Grace Original Music
"The closer you get to the truth, the clearer becomes the beauty, and the more you will find worship welling up within you” -- N.T. Wright
These songs were born from our experience as a church and our affection for Jesus. As personal as the music is to our own story, we pray that these songs will bring life and hope to whoever hears them.
SETTING THE LONELY IN FAMILIES
This song started with one of my favourite Psalms - 68:4-6 “Sing to God, sing praise to his name, Extol him who rides on the clouds - His name is the LORD - and rejoice before him. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families.”
As I reflected on that verse, a desire to worship rose inside me. How could it not when I recognized how caring our Father was toward the outcast and overlooked!?
INVITATION
One of the amazing things that defines us as Christians is that we have all responded to Jesus - we’ve heard him, we’ve believed him, and we’ve welcomed his manifest presence to reside in our hearts. This open and hospitable posture towards Christ is often taken for granted, but it’s remarkable, and it’s in contrast to most people whose hearts are actually closed or hostile towards him. I’m hoping through verse one (and beyond), people will have the time to reflect on this.
SWEET TO THE SOUL
This song came out of a season where I wasn’t spending much time in the Word and one day I almost felt like my soul was sick. I felt like I was malnourished and weak, and needed to be revived by the word of God. I thought of the verse in Proverbs 16:24, “Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the bones”, and as I was sitting with my guitar, I began crying out to God: My soul’s in need of honey . . . Spirit speak to me.
